Turned out not so bad after all.

This piece didn't win me at first, mainly because i thought that the voice was too loud compared to the other instruments. But then, starting at 1:10 going to the end, i really really enjoyed that part. Your strings melody was beautiful and that little electric guitar worked wonders for me.

I can imagine how hard it must have been to work on this project. If i was to try something like that than surely i would need more than 3 tries to get it right.

Good job on this Maestro.

Pretty good stuff here!

This song is awesome. I like the drums in this piece and the synth work/special effects. The intro really threw me off. I like the fact that you used many different instruments. Everything mixes well and nothing seems out of place... well to me anyways.

Good job and keep them coming.

Very good!

The song is just pure awesome and your version does it justice quite alright... The choice of instruments is very good. The guitar kicks ass and the strings are nice. Some of the drums could be a little louder i think.

The timpani was good but at one point it seems like its out of place... at the second semi-roll 3 in a row timapni hits... the first time it's ok but the second time it just doesn't feel right to me anyways... at 1:35 and 1:43 that is.

All in all you did an awesome job. 5/5 and keep them coming!

Oh and how come you didn't submit for the MAC this time... just wondering.

Grumbleduke responds:

Ah, the timpani rolls are just off-beat, which occurs nowhere else in the song.

I know I didn't submit to MAC this time; I don't know why, but my brain wasn't working terribly well, and I had other things to do; MCSA textbooks are big...

It's funny you mention the drums, because they always seem to be too quiet. I should really check before I submit, because I go from kickass speakers to normal ones when I transfer from mac to pc. Note to self; raise drum volumes deliberately in future.

Nice first submisson!

This is a pretty cool song. Superdrummer already noted some problems down like the marching sounds and all. The only thing that i have to add is that the trumpets volume was a bit too loud in the part towards the end, where everything else in the background is hard to hear.

On the good side, your song is diverse. The intro is nice, what i liked about it the most is the little 3 high notes the guitar plays. All in all it's a good song and you seem to know what you are doing so just keep on submitting songs.

Good luck with the contest man.

schwam responds:

Hey General Leo. Thnx a lot for the review. Like I wrote to SuperDrummer, my masteringskills just ain't the best. So I'm very greatfull for all the pointers I can get on that issue :)

Very cool that you noticed the 3 high guitar notes, because I really like that detail myself ;)

Again with the drums :D

You are extremely talented when it comes to creating some drum patterns. I need to learn how to make drums flow so nice like this.

The nice little synth melody was good, a bit simple but very good nontheless. I myself would have added some soft background strings at low volume just to fill it up more. Barely noticeable, only if you really put your ear to it. Or choir maybe could have dont the job as well...

I really wished that the song would have been a little longer... a second half-part with added melodies would have been nice.

Great work Rucklo, your songs are fun to listen to. It's a shame that i didn't come here sooner lol. 5/5 from me again man.

This one is pretty nice also.

The intro on this one was pretty "slow" but when the drums arrive the song is excellent.

I liked the bass and the drums alot in this piece. I really think that you have a talent with music and that you know how to create a nice atmosphere.

Did you use a choir with the bass in this piece? Or is it just the way the bass sounds naturally. It's pretty cool. The loads of fx were also very good.

Nothing is wrong with this piece, everything flows nicely.

Another 5/5 from me.

Rucklo responds:

Thanx man, this reaview ereally warmed my heart :)
I cant really remember what i did with the bass, i actaully think it´s a preset from a combinator that I messed up... i´ll check it out if youre interested.

a better version, remastered and slightly remixed can be downloaded here;

http://www11.nrk.no/urort/user/?id=20111

If it´s the same version as NG, then ill have to upload to another place... the soundcard seem to be fkd up on this comp, so i cant check...

Cool nice track!

Apart fomr the vocals that i didn't like too much... the song is great. The lyrics are good it's just that i'm not a fan of growling and i know that this is not a song to really sing to. So in a way it's pretty ok what you did, it's a good concept.

I really liked the drums in this piece and the little strings touch here and there are awesome. No wait... all of it is great.. synths too and the bass is awesome. I noticed a pitch or a key change somewhere but i can't tell exactly where it happens... which means it is very subtle and that is an awesome thing.

Hey if i pm you with my e-mail could you send me a version with no voice? No offense to you man it's just that it's not my type of thing.

This gets my 5. Excellent work!

Rucklo responds:

if you pm me in a week or two with your e-mail that should be no problem at all.
I am considering remaking this song and making it all instrumental, since i really messed up the mastering on thisone, i mena, it really SUX. i have earlier versions that are of better quality :/
anyway, yeah, the reason i want you to wait is because im on dial up at the moment. I am moving to a new place t his weekend, and it might take a couple of days until i get broadband.

Thanx alot for the feedback :D

Resurrection is always good...

Nice to hear from you again :D

This song is great. I love the percussions in this piece. I only wish that you put a slight touch of snare drums in there somewhere, like military drums but just a little bit. You also need to put some reverb and a longer release time on your bells man, that's my only problem with the song.

I love the strings and the flute. Was anything else playing along side the flute cause it sounded "electric"...

I myself am working on an orchestral piece, my first one hehe... will release in a short while. Ahem, anyways, i didn't come here to advertise/whore myself...

Good track Maestro, good luck with the contest. 5/5 for good measures.

MaestroRage responds:

Hey General_Leo.

I appreciate your support for the piece, it seems snares were a desire for this piece, but truth be told, I just couldn't really bring myself to put them in there, as I said earlier, i'll put them in myself, and if the difference is so monumental that it completely alters the core of the song (which I highly doubt it will), then i'll upload again different version.

As for flute. That is a panflute, reverbed up the ying yang. The bells were infact reverbed a huge deal, but it seems that the decay was simply not loud enough for it to make an impact. Should I have tried to make it louder and longer, it would have created a large ringing noise whenever it came around, and destroyed the entire structure of the song itself.

I look forward to your orchestral piece, please drop me a pm when it's up, i'll be sure to give you my thoughts.

Thanks for everything General_Leo ^^.

Very catchy....

I really liked this song. The main synth was very nice, teh beat is well done. The bassline could've been a tad louder i think.

The song loops really nicely good job with that as well. The cymbals used in this piece could use some reverb/echo or maybe just use a whole different sample.

After listeing to all of your tracks i have to say that this one and "Tactical-Ops Theme (remix)" are my favorites. Also some of the scores you have don't reallly do the songs justice so i spent a few 5s here and there.

I like what i hear and i think that you have some potential sir. Keep up the good work.

SaTIst responds:

Thats some real overview :)
Will try to keep ur notices in future songs / mixes ;)
Thanks for ur spended time.

So quiet...

so pure. This is an excellent piece of music.

The softnest of all the instruments is beautiful. It's like the music is inside of you lol.

I have to ask though what are you doing here on ng? Sir, you have to go and sell your music to good people. Make music for movies maybe? Unless you just want to tone your skills and become mr. amazing.

It's pretty hard to review an "almost flawless" piece of music. Almost flawless because nothing is perfect in this world, few things come close and alot of things don't come at all. This came extremely close... don't know what i'm trying to say here... maybe nothing, maybe everything. Lol, enough of this nonsense talking.

The only thing that i'd shorten is the intro part where there's only the sound fx...

You sir are an amazing artist and i look up to you. 5/5 again, no surprise here.

MaestroSegments responds:

Thank you alot General_Leo. I've always felt your music painted images and emotions I am yet still incapable of producing, so in many ways, I look up to your music as well.

As for the whole selling my music.

Forever For Free is my motto. I don't plan on selling my stuff, I want to give it to everybody, to spread more stories, and make more worlds.

Thanks for the review, it really means alot to me.

Hi, i make music as a hobby. From time to time i should upload a song. The best way to support me is to buy my music on bandcamp, it would really make my day. Share your art, take care, see you later.
